I had my first shot at a shift today and although it was rather tiring, I had a lot of fun with the other girls (who are officially my Hokkien-to-English translators) rehearsing Mandarin phrases, drawing on cardboard boxes, scooping ice-cream, changing boxes, hiding in the kitchen and speaking in tongues.
